Marshall aka Ladies Man

Last week at school when I picked Marshall up the teacher had to tell me a funny story about our little Marshall man aka Ladies Man:
He was holding the hand of a little girl named Abigail well his other little girl friend Addison got a little jealous so Marshall went and grabbed her hand and let go of Abigail's.  Then Abigal began to cry so our little sweet boy then grabbed both girls hands and told the teacher, "I can hold both of their hands..."  And it begins!

23 Months

See I promise to try to be better on this blogging thing - twice in one week - WATCH OUT!!

So Marshall is 23 months today.  My goodness - time flies!!!  He is such a little independent thing.  Hence the falling down the stairs last week.  He is into everything!
Some of his favorite things:
country music (Saturday mornings at our house is CMT) - he sings the songs and dances
cars
car keys
balls
driving (when the car is parked, of course)
swimming - anything with water
helping his daddy grill
our dogs
phones
cheese
fruit
The list could go on and on...
He is so funny to watch and listen to.  He is such a singer and dancer - it amazes me how he remembers country songs and can sing the words to them - right on tune I might add.  I really think he could be famous one day!  He is talking up a storm - sometimes you understand it and sometimes you don't but he is trying.  Had his staple removed Tuesday and he did great.  His little head is all better now.  He is not a big eater and definitely knows what he is in the mood for and what he's not.  Did I mention he is very independent! It's been a great almost 2 years and love watching him grow and see what he is going to do next.  Wish time could stand still sometimes.  He is such a blessing and we love him more and more each day.

First trip to ER

So I have officially named myself "worse blogger" but I will some day keep up with it. Maybe :) Anywho - last Thursday evening, Travis and I went to my parents to have dinner and pick up the little guy. Directv had to be there that day so my dad spent all day going up and down the stairs carrying Marshall with him. He has to be in the middle of everything! The stairs are always blocked from him getting to them and when he does go up or down, he holds someones hand and the rail. Well Travis left to go get dog food and Marshall and I were going to be right after him to meet him to look at cars. I had to go upstairs and Marshall wanted to come with me. He did great going up with me and we went to my mom's room and locked the door so he couldn't go down without me. I open her door to leave and he takes off thinking he was going to the other end of the upstairs and then turns quickly to head down stairs. Now if you know my little guy - he wants to be very independent and he is so fast when he is trying to get away from you. I yell you better hold on to my hand and the rail - about that time he loses his footing and goes tumbling all the way down. All I can do is scream and go after him. My parents come running around the corner knowing before they get there what happened. I grab him up and say "he's ok, he's ok!" About the same time, my dad and I look down and there is blood all over my hand and running down his face. Insert freak out mode in my mind but brave face for my baby boy. Tell mom to grab phone and get Travis to meet us at Baptist east which thankfully is 2-5 minutes from my parent's house. she can't remember his number in the panic and when finally dialed, he won't answer! Now I have told Travis before - make sure you can always answer your phone soon in case something is wrong. so mom told dad to get us to hospital and she would be behind us. Now their stairs are carpeted all the way down and he fell sideways so no over head fall which is wonderful. Rug at the bottom so I think he hit the bottom wood corner of the bottom step and cut his head. So off to my dad's car where i sit behind my dad and put marshall in my lab facing me - trying to keep him alert and awake, get travis on the phone and hold towel on his head. finally get travis, this is where I lose it. That has to be the worst phone call to make - I felt awful calling him and having to tell him that. I kept apologizing to him and he told me to quit and to calm down - everything was going to be fine. he would be there very quickly. Have I said that my hubby is amazing! He really is - he could have reacted very differently but he reacted exactly how I needed at that moment. Now my dad (who use to race gokarts and work on sprint cars) got us to hospital in record time but not once did he scare me - I knew he would get us there fast but safe. Marshall is his little buddy and I know he was freaking out inside just like me but you couldn't tell. We got there and by this time, his head has stopped bleading, he was talking, smiling and alert. Paramedics looked at him when we go there and siad he was going to be fine. Made me feel a little better but not 100% - I mean have you see how much blood is on us. Travis and my mom got there right before they took us back. So glad to have them there with us. Nurse came and looked and said he is going to be fine. Dr came and said the same thing. he has a cut on his head that needs to have one staple. Just one - so thankful! He did exceptionally well during the whole process. Travis and my dad stayed in the room during that and I just couldn't. I went out to the hall with mom (who is diabetic and her blood sugar has plummeted b/c of nerves). Heard my baby scream so I bust up in the room right when they are about to insert the staple. Perfect timing huh?!? I got a look from Travis like really right now?!? Held him tight after they were done and he was just fine. Ready to go. Got mom some OJ for her blood sugar and luckily she starts feeling and looking better. Of course, Marsahll had to have some of the OJ too. Went back to parents to chek on g'mother who i knew was freaking out and to get my car. Phone was left off the hook in the panic so had to let her know he was fine. Marshall took about 5 minutes to pass out in the car on the way home. put him in our bed and travis slept on the floor on his side in case he rolled off the bed - his idea - great hubby and daddy. I kept waking up checking on him and he was just fine. I stayed home with him the next day - needed to hold him tight and just wanted to be sure that he was ok and thanked God all day that he kept him safe. He woke up wanting to dance, play, eat go outside etc. We went and had lunch with daddy and went to my parents. he is going to be jsut fine - get the staple removed today! hoping that all is healed up. This was the scariest day of my life but so very thankful that he is fine. Now i will just keep him away from anything that might hurt him until he is at least 18?!?!

Surgery

So tomorrow is the big day! Tubes place in ears and adenoids removed. I hope and pray this helps my little guy! I'm sure it will from everyone I have talked to and everything I have read. I hate that he has to be put to sleep but hopefully it will go by fast! Please keep our little guy in your prayers (and us as well) considering I'm a nervous wreck today! I just want it over! He did have a nice weekend thought - played with friends on Friday night and Saturday night. We babysat for a good friend of mine, Heather's little girl named Addison on Friday night and they played very well together not to mention she was a perfect little angel! We even had them sit at the toddler card table to eat dinner and they did perfectly! On Saturday night, some good friends of ours, Jennifer, Joe and Paxton, kept Marshall for a few hours and he didn't even want to leave! So I'm sure he had fun! I love him being around other kids! I think it helps so much!

Here is a little picture of our little guy this past weekend before we went to Church.

He is so stinkin cute!

And since it was such a nice weekend, we took him outside to play and he went crazy when we brought him inside.

Ear Infection...AGAIN!

So it's been a tough few weeks. I know it can always be worse but our little guy can't seem to keep the ear infections away. We are either at the doctor b/c we suspect one or having them rechecked because he is off of the antibiotics every other week for a while now! Not to mention well visits and everything else. They all know me at the doctor's office probably even recognize my voice when I call. So I had to take him in there yesterday. I figured more than likely he had another ear infection but my main reason for taking him was because he woke up Tuesday sounding horrible. No runny nose or fever but hoarse and sounded like he was having issues in his chest. So I thought he had RSV again like he did last year but was hoping for just allergy issues or something. No luck! Bronchitis and not too surprising an ear infection (luckily this time just one ear not both like the previous times)! Are you serious? Really? We have had him on Nasonex per doctor to keep him well so no ear infections. Before that, we tried Singulair and Zyrtec. I thought the Nasonex was working b/c his runny nose was gone but it didn't keep him from getting another ear infection and now bronchitis. So the doc told me to go ahead and set up that appointment with the ENT as soon as I got home. So called and we go February 8th. I'm sure there will be a surgery coming soon after. I hate that my son has to have another surgery (he had a minor one last June) so 2 surgeries before he is even 2 years old doesn't make me too happy but I'm tired of him being sick all the time so hopefully this will help. He is a trooper though - this has slowed him down some but not as much as I thought it would. So here's to hoping he can get well and stay well until we meet with the ENT!

Christmas 2010

So I don't think I got any good pictures from Christmas because Marshall did not feel good really at all the whole break. He would have his good moments but mostly you could tell he was not himself. He ended up having double ear infections (again) so that is a whole other issue. We did try to have a good time but I think most of our family was struggling with sinus issues that week so we just took it easy. We just tried to make it through as good as we could. We went to my great-aunt's house on Thursday night (Christmas Eve Eve) and celebrated with my mom's extended family. On Christmas Eve, we attended our Church, Hope's 3:00 service. My parents, Travis' parents, my brother and his wife and children, my sister-in-law's mother, sister and her boyfriend and his parents joined us. We took up a whole row by ourselves. It was such a nice service. On Christmas Day, we woke up after a rough night with Marshall to see what Santa brought him. He really didn't care at all about it when he woke up so I knew it was going to be a tough day. He eventually came around and we fed him. Then off to my parents house. We had brunch there and opened presents. Then that afternoon, we were off to Travis' parents house. Marshall got worse there and screamed for almost 2 hours and we couldn't find out what was wrong. I had one person calling our doctor, another person calling our insurance company to see what urgent care facility was covered and one person running a bath to help calm him down. Nothing worked and he just wanted to hold on to me. Finally he calmed down and then was back to himself. He had a bad stomach for a few days so I think that played a part and there was just so much going on, he got to him. Hopefully, we don't go through that again...it was horrible! This was definitely a Christmas I won't forget! He did get lots of great gifts and thoroughly enjoys playing with them now!

15 Months

So Marshall turned 15 months yesterday. He's so much fun and so full of energy...wears me out watching him. :) He started walking a little over a month ago, we never thought it would happen but I kept saying he's not going to until he has mastered it and I think I was right. Once he started, he was so quick and just kept going. He is such a happy little guy. We will take him for his 15 month checkup next Friday so I won't have stats until then but the last time we took him - about 2 weeks ago, he weighed 23 pounds.

About the little guy:
-Wears size 4 diapers - been in those for forever
-Chases our dogs around the house and just giggles at them
-Loves to be tickled (I promise he comes running to me for more)
-Wears size 5 wide shoes
-His clothes sizes vary but between 18 months and 24 months
-Will pretty much eat anything that you give him and loves fruit!
-He will wave bye-bye to you sometimes
-Will pick up the phone and say "hey"
-He says quite a few words and can repeat a lot of words that you say to him
-Will dance to just about anything
-Pretty nosey little kid and I just don't know where he got it from :)
-Still a spitting image of his daddy (he did get my eyes) but is starting to act just like me
-He got his first haircut a week ago and loved it!
-Loves going to Preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays...just walks on in his classroom and starts playing.

He brings such joy to our lives and can't wait to see what he will do next! We love you little man!
